1948
Videodyne TV
This rare 12"
tabletop TV was available in both a 10" and 12" version,
with or without FM radio, and under the brand name Videodyne or
Columbia. This 12" model sold new for about $450. By comparison,
a new 1948 Chevrolet or Ford sold for $1200-$2000. Magazine ads
of the period refer to "The New Look in Television--only three
controls (volume, channel selector, and contrast)." The CRT
is an early Dumont 12JP4 with reflective coating.
